Hull FC are closer than ever to securing the signature of Bradford prop Garreth Carvell.
Indeed, the former Great Britain star, 32, was spotted at the East Yorkshire side’s training ground yesterday and is said to have been absent from the Bulls camp for over a week.
He joined Bradford in late 2013 from Warrington and many hoped his experience and leadership could guide the troubled Yorkshire outfit to safety in what is set to be one of their most difficult seasons.
And, despite the financial issues, it looked like the Odsal club had done enough to keep hold of their biggest names when they ringfenced their squad last week.
However, Carvell, clearly concerned by an uncertain future, took advantage of administration rules to secure a move away, just like Craig Kopzcak did when he joined Huddersfield at the end of 2012.
The deal is not yet ratified, but reports suggest Carvell has an eye on Hull’s Super League opener this Friday, so it surely can’t be far away.
