Parramatta Eels forward set to make immediate Super League switch

PARRAMATTA EELS forward Joe Ofahengaue is set to make an immediate switch to Super League.

That’s according to The Daily Telegraph, with the 29-year-old set to join Leigh Leopards on a multi-year deal after being dropped to Parramatta’s reserves last weekend.

Ofahengaue was out of contract with the Eels at the end of the 2025 NRL season and instead of plying his trade in the second tier, has decided to take up the shot in Super League.

Parramatta general manager of football, Mark O’Neill, confirmed Ofahengaue’s departure this morning.

“Joe has shown strong commitment to our club since joining the Eels. He’s been a valued team member, and we’re particularly pleased that he was able to celebrate his 200th NRL game in blue and gold — a significant milestone in any player’s career,” O’Neill said in a statement.

“One of Joe’s great strengths has been his willingness to mentor and support our younger players as they transition into the NRL environment. He’s made a lasting impression on the group, and we thank him for his leadership and service to the club.”

The Leopards are the only Super League side to have a spare quota spot remaining, with the departure of Ben Nakubuwai last month opening up a free spot.
