Wigan Warriors given key injury blow as Matt Peet hints at potential debutant

WIGAN WARRIORS will be without prop forward Patrick Mago for a month, head coach Matt Peet has confirmed.

Mago pulled out during the warm up ahead of Wigan’s Good Friday clash with bitter rivals St Helens and subsequently went for a scan on his hamstring.

Now Peet has revealed that the powerful forward has got a Grade Two injury on his hamstring, whilst Tyler Dupree will also miss out against Hull FC due to concussion protocols.

“We lost Patrick at the weekend, he tweaked his hamstring in the warm up,” Peet said.

“It’s Grade Two, it’s about four weeks. As soon as I heard hamstring and that he would need a scan, it’s never one week.

“Tyler Dupree misses out with concussion which brings a challenge to the squad but I’ve liked Sam Walters and Harvie Hill stepping up.”

Who could replace Mago and Dupree?

“Certainly debutants in terms of Taylor Kerr, he’s been doing a great job for us and will be in the 21-man squad this week.

“We’ve also spoken potentially about Brad O’Neill through the middle.”
