Wigan Warriors announced on 8th November 2019 that the club had signed promising London Broncos Academy player Kai Pearce-Paul on a four-year contract.
Pearce-Paul, 19, followed his older brother Kameron into the Broncos’ system, but unlike Kameron, who joined Coventry Bears in League 1 from the Broncos, Kai was snapped up by the Warriors and made his debut off the bench in Wigan’s Round 14 42-0 defeat on 29 September last year.
And now the younger Pearce-Paul is hoping for more opportunities now that he has had a full season at the DW Stadium.
“The plan is always to be in the team,” Pearce-Paul told Wigan TV.
“Last year it was to make my debut, and that came true.
“The game was a massive thing to me and an accomplishment.”
The sad part, however, was that the youngster couldn’t perform with his family in the stadium.
“It obviously would have been amazing to have them there, but it wasn’t meant to be, he said.”
But now his plan is to be selected again for the first team.
“I want to get another chance and break into the squad if I can play well.
“I feel both physically and mentally I’ve progressed. I’m feeling bigger, the stats tell me I’m bigger and faster. I’ve probably put on eight or nine kilograms since I’ve been here.”
